April 2004, BlueScope Steel acquired Butler Manufacturing Group by increasing investment in China. Butler was founded in 1901, is a prefabricated steel structure system is the world's leading manufacturers and service providers in China and the North American market share first.
 
These businesses provide a comprehensive, user-customized and high value-added building solutions. Process solutions to meet the needs of individual customers design, including engineering services, design optimization analysis, product manufacturing, project management, transportation, technical support, construction services and localized customer service. These solutions are widely used in various construction fields, including utilities, construction, manufacturing buildings, retail buildings, warehouse, power plant, high-rise and civil construction. Solutions include, prefabricated metal building systems, steel cladding, deck and home address systems, and building solve the system.
 
In 2004, BlueScope Steel decided to build in China, metal coating and color coated steel sheet plant, to implement and Butler for the platen and the business of supply of raw materials, prefabricated structures. The new plant put into operation in 2006, is located 80 km west of Shanghai in Suzhou, the investment amount of 2.8 billion Australian dollars. The new plant with an annual capacity of 25 tons of metal plated painted steel coil steel coil and 15 million tons.
